The aim of this service is to provide customers with some basic initial information in relation to a legal question at a fixed price. The response will be in writing. In order to keep the service at an affordable price the response is based solely on the information provided by the customer on the online form completed at the time of purchase. It is not based on perusal of any documents or any further discussion with the customer of the issues. No documents, photographs, or any other material will be accepted. The response is therefore of a general and limited nature in this respect and should not be used as a substitute for obtaining detailed advice from a qualified lawyer acquainted with the full facts of the case. Whilst we seek to fulfil all requests, it is not always possible to do this due to unusual or complex points of law that your enquiry may reveal, or areas of law outside of our expertise. For this reason a response is not available in all circumstances and we reserve the right not to provide you with a response. If this occurs, we will notify you and refund all monies paid. The legal response will be provided by a Paralegal, who is not entitled to practise in the same way as a solicitor or barrister. Therefore, in providing any legal services to you we are not acting as a solicitor or barrister and are not subject to many of the rules which regulate practicing solicitors or barristers.
We aim to provide you with a good service and if you have any concerns about what I do for you, please let us know and we will try to resolve the problem. But you should know that you would have only limited rights to complain about me to anyone else.
The Legal Ombudsman, which can adjudicate on complaints about poor service by practising barristers and solicitors, cannot consider any complaint against policeguru, because we are beyond their remit.
We are not at this time covered by professional indemnity insurance.

Upon receipt of your request and receipt by us of your fixed fee payment we will provide a written answer.

  • We will communicate with you in plain language, without using legal jargon.
  • We will give you accurate information about the law applicable to your case, within the limitations of providing a low-cost fixed-fee service.
  • We will always seek to respond to your enquiry within 2 working days of receipt but will aim to do so within 24 hours.
  • You only pay the fixed fee for the answer to your enquiry. Although points of clarification will not attract another payment, separate and further questions will and you will be advised to submit the enquiry through the payment screen.

The information provided should not be used as a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer who has taken full instructions and is fully acquainted with the facts of the case. We therefore cannot accept any responsibility for losses occasioned by persons acting on or refraining from any action.

We are limited to providing you with initial fixed-fee response to your legal enquiry. Once we have fulfilled that function our contract under these terms and conditions will be deemed to be terminated. There will exist no client/lawyer relationship.

We are unable to advise on the specific details of cases already in progress through the courts, or provide a second opinion if you have already employed the services of a solicitor.

If you submit a question via this website we reserve the right to not answer the question and refund monies paid.

The person who makes the enquiry via the POLICEGURU.CO.UK website will be our customer for the purposes of providing an answer.

We are unable to advise you as to whether you would qualify for Public Funding to seek advice.

You have a right to complain about any aspect of our service.

We use the information you provide primarily for the provision of answering your enquiry, but also for business purposes including analysis to help us to run our business. We are registered with the Information Commissioners Office.

In accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations you have the right to cancel your question to us within the period of 14 working days beginning with the day after the day on which you accept this notification as part of our Terms of Business. Cancellation must be notified to us in writing within the 14 day period. If we have already completed the work and responded, your right of cancellation will cease. Acceptance of these terms and conditions is acknowledgement of your express consent of losing the right to cancel if we have already answered your enquiry.
